Most "AI writing tool for Mac" picks fall into one of three buckets: a hosted subscription with a fixed model (Grammarly, ChatGPT website), a one-shot menu-bar app (RewriteBar, PopClip), or a sprawling launcher add-on (Raycast AI). ClipSlop is the keyboard-first / pipeline-first one.

What's distinctive about ClipSlop
- Pipelines, not actions. Most tools run one prompt and stop. ClipSlop chains them, with full history and branching. This is the single biggest functional gap with the rest of the field.
- Keyboard-first end-to-end. Mnemonics for every prompt, every action has a shortcut, including OCR. The mouse is optional.
- Provider-agnostic + local-first. Sign in with ChatGPT free, bring your own key, or run Ollama with no network. Other "BYO key" tools usually require a subscription on top.
